Dear Guest Thank you for your positive comments regarding your recent golf break with us. I am delighted that you had an enjoyable stay and experienced the food.
Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back for future golf breaks or even simply a seaside getaway. Kind Regards Lindsay Steele. We have stayed in this hotel a few times before when it was a Ramada and while the hotel may have had some cosmetic work done there did not appear to have been any wholesale changes. The hotel bar , in common with other hotels of its type, is more expensive than pubs in the surrounding area but we still enjoyed a few late night drinks in the company of some noisy but friendly Welsh golfers!

All in all we like this hotel , we enjoyed ourslves and we will definately return. Dear Guest I am delighted that you had another enjoyable stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future. Many Thanks Lindsay Steele. My husband and myself and our 3 kids 14, 12 and 10 stayed for 1 night when we were at a wedding in Alloway.
THE 15 BEST Things to Do in Mesa
We had 2 rooms - the kids had a family room, and my husband and I had a double room a few doors away. The family room had a double bed, a sofa bed and a little room with another sofa bed on the way to the bathroom. We used the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was fine although badly in need of refurbishment - the health suite is tired and dated. Most of the hotel was a bit tired and dated. However, the staff were great. There's parking round the corner for a nominal fee of 2 pounds per day or something like that.
Breakfast was a buffet and was perfectly good. I felt that the fact the place needed refurbished was reflected in the price - the cost of the 2 rooms was relatively cheap. Dear Guest Many Thanks for your feedback regarding your stay at the hotel. I am pleased that you and the family had an enjoyable stay with us. The hotel was rebranded as Mercure in October last year and there are plans for refurbishing areas of the hotel over a period of time. I hope that you will visit the hotel on your next visit to Ayr and look forward to welcoming the family back.
Stayed here in June with a few friends on a Golf Package , great value, only negative the bar prices, apart from that great service and a lovely time. Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back on any future visits to Ayr. We therefore went down at 12pm in our regular clothes only to be informed by what can only be described as a very forthright receptionist who went into a big explanation about how we should not have been given this information and that they could not guarantee early check in.
Her tone and manner were not what you would expect, and left us feeling anxious about not being ready for the wedding on time. On returning home I completed a survey on my experience and in their reply there was not even an apology, which confirmed my initial view of poor customer service.
Dear Guest Unfortunately we can never guarantee an early check-in due to the nature of the business but will always endeavour to try our best to accomodate guests needs. I am sorry that you were told the previous night that it wouldn't be a problem to get an early check-in. This matter has been investigated and the team member fully briefed on procedure.
Hotel is well maintained and all the staff are very helpful and informed.

Although the hotel was busy they took the time to make sure my party was comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for them. The local knowledge that the staff have is second to none! Cannot recommend highly enough will definitely visit again next time I am in Ayrshire.
Dear Guest Many Thanks for your feedback. The team always aim to be as helpful as possible and I shall be passing on your kind words to everyone. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel very soon. As you descend to the golf lounge there is a stench of damp and the carpets are ruined by it.
In one section they had ripped it up so maybe they are seeing to it now. Next we went for dinner in the restaurant where we were seated on time at a table with four place settings there were two of us 8 glasses, 16 forks, and 8 knives, and four bread plates. We had a reservation, they knew when and how many were coming yet they seated us at this table for four with this dizzying array of cutlery, plates and glasses.
I had to ask to get the glasses removed as neither of us were drinking wine or water thinking maybe they might get the hint and remove the other two place settings. It didn't happen.
I ordered the French onion soup to start and we each had sirloin steak for mains. What came to me under the guise of French onion soup was some form of Roux porridge with a bit of onion jiggling about in it. And I mean jiggling. It was thickened to death. The crouton was a bit of Rye bread I think that they had cut in half strangely as the whole piece would have fit easily with a tiny bit of gruyere cheese melted on it.
Now French onion soup is a constant. You don't mess with it. You stick to the recipe. It is a clear soup, for starters with big generous chunks of onion in it. The crouton should be thick with melted cheese thick enough to melt over the side. That is how it is presented. What I got went back to the kitchen as it was inedible. The staff was very gracious about it and it was removed from the bill. The sir loins were ordered medium rare and came cooked well. Big portion of potato, nicely done onion rings and mushrooms. I was satisfied as it was reasonably priced and a nice thick cut.
The staff were pleasant and accommodating at all times but I think management needs to address some training issues. The place wasn't very busy. Again the dilapidated facilities let the pleasant staff down. They didn't have change for the lockers which take a pound which you get back after use. When I went to shower before entering the pool the shower curtains have some form of mould on them. The hot tub is nice if you ignore the paint peeling and the plaster falling off the wall. The steam room is lovely but you can't rinse off in the pool area after it as the half dozen or so signs order you to because the shower there isn't working so you have to go back into the change room and the mouldy curtains.
Sebastian would not be happy with the state of this place. Lots of weights but threadbare carpets with holes in them and very old machines. I would like to say that this review in no way represents displeasure with the staff. They were smiling and attentive but the place is falling apart and needs looked after. Until that happens I think asking what they are asking for a room is relying on past glory as it must have been a beautiful place in its day. Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay with us over the weekend.
I am sorry to read that your stay did not meet your expectations. We are aware of areas in the hotel that are in need of refurbishment, the corridor leading to the golf simulator being one of these. This area is in the process of having works done as you mention in your review and is an ongoing process.
We are hopeful that the other areas will receive funding over time. I am delighted that you enjoyed your steaks following the issue with your soup. This issue has been dealt already been dealt with. I have also passed your comments on to the Restaurant Manager to go through with the team. I hope that you had fun while using the golf simulator, although we do have both right and left handed clubs as well as a set of junior clubs. I am at a loss as to why these were not brought out for you to use. As the tees are made from rubber these can from time to time break and require replacing. It pleases me that you found the team to be helpful and accomodating and I hope that in the furture you may consider visiting us again.
Excellent value, really good breakfast, good quality and lots of it, buffet style with particularly fine bacon and sausages. The room was slightly tired but didn't matter for the amount of time I was there. Dear Guest Thank you for your review following your recent stay at the hotel. I am delighted that you had such an enjoyable breakfast as this is an area that we have been working hard to improve. I have already passed your comments on to the team who will take great motivation from this. We are aware that certain areas of the hotel are requiring some upgrading and hope that this is an area that will be invested in over time.
I hope that you may consider staying with us on any future visits to Ayr and we will look forward to looking after you again should you do.
We spent 2 nights at the Mercure Hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming on check in.

The room was basic and functional but the bathroom and towels were a little tired. Handy location for the sea front, shops and railway station. The included breakfast was very good and service in the restaurant was excellent. A bonus was the free car park which, from previous reviews, we'd assumed we'd be charged for! Dear Guest Thanks for the review of your recent stay with us, I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. I am especially delighted that you had an enjoyable breakfast.
This is an area that we have been working hard at improving so it is very pleasing to read your comments. I do hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel again soon and provide you with another enjoyable experience. Stayed here one night, mid-week on a fairly low priced voucher deal - so did not expect too much. So, all the more pleasing then to find the Savoy Park over-deliver on almost all fronts.
From the welcome on arrival to the cheery wave on departure, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We had booked at fairly short notice so none of the Executive Rooms, which we qualified for, were available. We were given a Superior Room instead. Fair enough - our fault. The Superior Room had been reasonably recently refurbished and was more than adequate in all regards.
Helpful advice re. Peaceful sojourn sipping glass of wine in sun drenched, immaculate and secure, child-friendly rear garden. Evening meal was in theory off a limited menu, not the a la carte, but in fact had a good choice and the dishes we chose ranged from good to outstanding warm hoi-sin duck salad with cashews - delicious! Wine and bar prices reasonable. Dining room was very busy with residents and locals, who obviously take advantage of the keenly priced 2for1 offering on many of the dishes.

Comfortable night's sleep - no noise from street. Good choice at breakfast too, if a little sombre. Independently run, as opposed to being part of a chain and it showed. All in a rather grand, substantially built, All in a rather grand, substantially built, dark sandstone building, well maintained outside and in.
Appears to be doing well and deservedly so. We spent 2 nights here using a KGB voucher and were very pleased. It's a lovely old hotel, privately owned I believe, with public rooms done out in different styles. We were given a large room overlooking the garden, very comfortable though a little shabby, however, I could see that maintenance and refurbishment were being carried out at the hotel. The garden was lovely, although needed some attention with tables and chairs and umbrellas provided, and lots of trees making it quite private.
There is also a children's play area towards the bottom of the garden providing equipment and space for exploring. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and very good value, particularly with a 2 for 1 offer.

Staff were very friendly, helpful, accommodating and professional. Although it doesn't have a pool of its own, it has an arrangement with the local leisure centre. Internet is available and free. If I were to go to Ayr again, I would definitely stay here, and would recommend it to others. The lady who greeted us at reception couldn't have been more friendly, and even though we hadn't booked and the restaurant was busy she conjured up a table.
Particularly good for us was how they made the children welcome play area out the back. We thought it was excellent value for money for good quality food - all plates clean! Would definitely recommend One minor issue was that our waitress was rather less friendly than all the other staff Stayed here for 2 nights and had a very enjoyable time. Had an overnight with breakfast and dinner while doing some sightseeing around Ayr. Location was ideal. Near the burns museum and a short drive to culzean castle. The meal was a 3 course dinner.
My wife enjoyed the tomato soup while the black pudding was the best I've had. For the main course we both chose the roast beef which was lovely. To finish, for dessert i had a nice ice cream sundae while my wife enjoyed her rhubarb crumble. We were both full after the meals.
The breakfast selection catered for pretty much anything. I had a lovely fry up which set me up for more sightseeing. We would definitely recommend staying at the hotel.
